Longhorn, Session 4

Longhorn applique on the sky and grass fabric background

Dippity-Do, home on the range

It’s been quite a while since I worked on Dippity-Do. Here’s what he looks like after appliqué session #4. I need to iron all the pieces to the background and then I’ll be ready for the first sewing session. I think I’ll move the clouds around some before I start sewing, now that I’ve had a good look at it.

While I’m still finishing up on my first longhorn applique, Pat started her second. Each of her sons will get a longhorn appliqué wall hanging.

The longhorn art quilt pattern is by Susan Cranshaw.

Weekly Photo Challenge:  Happy

WordPress unveiled a new photo gallery feature for this Weekly Photo Challenge. I couldn’t get it to work. These photos use the default display for this theme. And when I figure out how to get the photo gallery feature to work, that will make me happy.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mine

This Weekly Photo Challenge had many possibilities. There’s my parking space at Whole Foods Market (at Lamar, in Austin, Texas). I hardly ever get to use it because someone else is already parked in it when I arrive; even so, it’s mine. Then there are my fabric scissors, never to be used for any purpose other than cutting fabric. I hide them from hubby to ensure their safety. I could have posted a photo of any of my dogs, but as soon they chew up something, hubby inherits full ownership; then they are his.

The window from my cubicle overlooking the Texas Capitol building

Small, but sweet.

So here it is, what I consider “mine.” It’s the view from my cubicle window. My ownership is temporary, as one of the guarantees of this job is that individuals,  units and departments get moved around our agency all the time. I’ve worked on eight different floors in four different buildings, including the basement of the main building, which we unlovingly called “the dungeons” due to its smell.

The statue on top of the Texas Capitol is the Goddess of Liberty. She holds up a star that a pair of hawks commonly use as a perch. Sometimes I’m lucky enough to see both hawks sitting on the star at the same time. That’s when I really appreciate the view that is mine.
