Faceted Texture

I photographed some textured glass and decided to use it as the background for a few montage photographs. It seemed like a good idea, but I didn’t quite get the results I intended. The other photographs are from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

American Beauty Berry. The texture hardly shows up at all.

Pineapple flower (probably not its real name). In real life it’s purple but I played around with the color a bit. I wish it had been more in focus.

I managed to capture the windmill in motion, using a slow shutter speed. That took several tries to adjust my camera settings.

Almost Ready

A hole in the bread? Stan’s mom suggested an air pocket in the dough. Silly idea, he thought.

He decided it was proof of the Federation’s secret testing of their newest generation of phasers. Stan imagined himself on an alien planet, always ready for action, his aim deadly and accurate.

He spread peanut butter on the bread, then tossed it up. He took aim, firing his imaginary phaser, once again saving Earth from destruction.

Stan’s mom called out, “Almost time to go. Ready?”

He looked at the bread that had landed on the floor, peanut-butter side down.

“Almost,” Stan answered.
