I sketched this on my own. No YouTube video this time for guidance. I find feathers particularly hard, but I tried one anyway.
This might be a hawk feather.
I think this is “good” on two levels: (1) I took the time to sketch it and (2) it shows progress. But I wouldn’t call it a good sketch of the feather. There is still lots of room for improvement.

I had difficulty with the leaves. Put them in, erase some. Add some darkness, take it out. Finally it was just time to stop.

My friend Pat gave me this angel statuette. I must have taken hundreds of photos of it while it was in her garden. Now it’s on my front porch. I adore it.
I drew a rabbit a few days ago (based on Mark Crilley’s YouTube video How To Draw A Rabbit) and then I “painted” it in thread (on my sewing machine). This is my first effort at thread painting without having a photograph on the base fabric; this is all free-hand. I think the whiskers are too dark, but it is not like using graphite pencils where I can erase!

When I drew the rabbit, I used two pencils: Raffiné 3B and Prismacolor Black. When I stitched the rabbit, I used seven threads: Gütermann 30-weight 4335, 8, 9333, 40, 3454, 93, 000 (black). I used the black for the whiskers; too dark.
