Day 26 of the 2018 Direct Watercolor Challenge: a duckling, from the book The Chinese Brush Painting Bible by Jane Dwight.

#30x30DirectWatercolorChallenge2018 Day 26
Day 25 of the 2018 Direct Watercolor Challenge: a duck figurine. I intended to paint the whole duck but I ran out of room on my 5×7-inch watercolor paper. That’s another thing that happens when you don’t sketch the subject first. Oh, well, better luck next time.

Day 24 of the 2018 Direct Watercolor Challenge: an abstract tree. I decided to try something abstract, as my paintings are somewhat wonky when I don’t have an underlying sketch. This way I can say the result is exactly what I intended, no matter how it turns out.

#30x30DirectWatercolor2018 Day 24
Day 23 of the 2018 Direct Watercolor Challenge: a cupcake. At least, that’s what it’s supposed to be. I also intended to paint a candle on top but somehow didn’t leave enough room when I painted it. That’s what happens sometimes when you don’t sketch it out first. But that’s part of the challenge, no sketching or drawing underneath, so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
