I recently came across the term Direct Watercolor from a blog post by Marco Taro Holmes. Direct Watercolor means painting in watercolor without an underlying sketch or drawing. I thought I’d give it a try, so here is my first effort. I’m pretty happy that I can recognize it as a pitcher.

I admire how you are always trying something new. This is so good. You are so talented!

I never used sketch lines way back when I did watercolor. Maybe I would have been happier with the paintings if I had, but I like the way it seems to speak of freedom.
