Up hours before the dawn
Cinderella chores finished ere dew forms on the lawn
Getting an early start is great
What I don’t understand
Is how I’m already behind by eight

Up hours before the dawn

Getting an early start is great
What I don’t understand
Is how I’m already behind by eight
NaPoWriMo Day 19
Some clichés are true
Like the road less taken
The smaller roads are not out of the way
They are the way
Let’s ride
NaPoWriMo Day 18
An extreme juncture stalls time
Blurs our vision, tatters our breath
All that we knew, before, is in question
A single moment of relief
One breeze of possibility from
The shelter of an angel’s wing
Guides us past our stationary nightmare
As a bridge to the future
NaPoWriMo Day 17
Residing in a ceramic pot
Glimpsing life through paned windows
Sleeping behind closed curtains
The orchid blooms out of place, defiantly
NaPoWriMo Day 16
My memories are housed in a backlit tree
A few branches almost as bright as day
Details dangle on the leaves and
Murmur in the background
The tree shrinks some memories so small
Its trunk conceals them in its woody crevices
Where no light reaches
The farthest twigs hold on to my distant past
Out of my reach, forever
