A Day Like Today
Interestingly enough, the sun rose this morning
It seemed like the thing to do
Trees sprout their spring attire, a bit more each day
The wind picks up, drying the dew
These customary actions lure us into a false sense of security
A day like today promises no tomorrow

Little pink house sitting on the corner
Paint fading over the years
Your garden’s thistles feed generations
Of bees, butterflies and finches
Lace windows smooth life’s sharp edges
Diffuse the brutal midday sunlight
Your threshold offers shelter
Wrapped in memories of children’s laughter
Little Pink House, beckoning
