At the Nalle Bunny Run Wildlife Preserve along the Colorado River

Falling Leaves
The forest isn’t silent, not really
Falling leaves twist in the wind
Crinkling as they descend
Their echoes bouncing from branch to branch
In a secret language of changing seasons, color
The pine needle floor fades my footfalls to
A whisper of a memory as the path behind disappears
In the diminishing sunlight
I understand how one gets lost in the forest
I know why one so chooses
On the trail at McKinney Falls State Park.

This is a favorite spot of mine at McKinney Falls State Park. I have posted photos of these tree roots before, but this photo is new; taken with my iPhone, Sunday 06 November 2016.

Just wonder how this tree ended up growing mostly in one direction.
