It’s A Mystery
I have no idea what this is. I found it underneath the Burr Oak, on top of some mulch. Maybe it’s a fungus or maybe it’s something my dog threw up.
Update: My good friend Catherine let me know that there really is a Dog Vomit Mold: Fuligo septica. I think that is just hilarious.
Milkweed Pod
Update: I searched online for quite a while, trying to identify this plant. My first thought was that is a Devil’s Claw, but the photos didn’t match. The milkweed photos looked close. But now that the plant is maturing, it looks like a Devil’s Claw again (to me).
