Bluebonnet Near The Lake
Bluebonnet season is upon us, earlier than usual as our winter didn’t last very long. We’ve had good rains so I’m hoping there will be lots of bluebonnets. Here is one to start off the season.

More Signs of an Early Spring
I found some green stuff peeking up on the trail of a recent hike. Bluebonnets, already? On my drive to the hike, I also saw some Mountain Laurels in bloom (no photos, however, as Austin has a “no using hand-held devices while driving” law).

We passed two ponds. You can see how the clouds changed in just a few minutes.
I’m not sure how this prickly pear cactus pad got separated from the plant, or how it managed to get lodged on the barbed wire fence.

First Bluebonnet
The first bluebonnets are blooming. We’ve had good spring rains and are expecting photo opportunities galore. There are always plenty of people who stop and park right on Interstate 35 in Austin for their photos. My plan is to look for bluebonnets on country roads and in parks.

The bluebonnets are blooming! Not at our house, yet. We are behind on our rainfall amounts, again, so our bluebonnets will be slow to show. I saw these on my way back from Houston last week.
