The Purple Martins have departed our area for the year. They’ll return early next spring, sometime in March.

Pecan Tree Leaves with Holes
Our pecan trees have leaves that look like this. Holes everywhere. Turns out the sawfly larvae eat the leaves from the underside, with this result. The sawfly is not, however, a fly but a member of the wasp family.
