Black-bellied Whistling Duck, Sketch 075
This one I get to add to my Life List because it was at McGovern Lake and not in the zoo. A Life List is the list of birds one has seen (or heard). There are only a couple of birds I can identify by sound, so most of mine are birds I’ve seen. I just created my list last week and have 55 birds on it.

An Afternoon in Comfort
Pat and I took a day trip to Comfort, Texas. First things first: we ate ice cream at Comfort Pizza, then we wandered around the antique and art stores. Lunch was at High’s Cafe and Store. It was a grey day, but the rain held off until we were leaving town. It was fun and I’m sure we’ll go back again.

Red Spikes with Bee Butt
A bee butt on a red, spiked flower at the Houston Zoo. I don’t know the name of this flower.
Update: The flower is a Red Bottlebrush (thanks to Judy King for the identification).
