A Day Like Today

Interestingly enough, the sun rose this morning
It seemed like the thing to do

Trees sprout their spring attire, a bit more each day
The wind picks up, drying the dew

These customary actions lure us into a false sense of security
A day like today promises no tomorrow

April is Poetry Month and NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) starts today!

Little Pink House

Little pink house sitting on the corner
Paint fading over the years
Your garden’s thistles feed generations
Of bees, butterflies and finches

Lace windows smooth life’s sharp edges
Diffuse the brutal midday sunlight
Your threshold offers shelter
Wrapped in memories of children’s laughter

Little Pink House

Little Pink House, beckoning

Butterfly feeding on a thistle

Butterfly feeding on a thistle

Lesser Goldfinch feeding on a thistle

Lesser Goldfinch feeding on a thistle

Honey bee feeding on a thistle
