Recently I lamented that a hard, late freeze would kill all the flowers on our two peach trees, preventing any kind of peach crop this year.
Wrong again!
We have lots of peaches! Somehow they survived the two or three nights of temperatures in the 20s and the peaches are emerging. There might even be enough for the birds and to have a few left over for us. Time will tell.

Walking just over two hours is a good pace
While we chat during the Capitol 10K race
We ran a marathon a long time ago
Now it’s just for fun, personal records we’ve let go
Musicians play for us on our way
And volunteers give us water keeping thirst at bay
It was cold, rainy and it was fun
Even though we were so far back we never heard the starting gun
(My placement was 11,610 of 11,992 finishers. Smokin’!!)

Took us almost 13 minutes to get to the start line after the race started
Almost 12,000 of our closest friends
Downhill, but uphill followed
Musicians played for us
Drummers with a beat
Now I want a pink cowboy hat
Even the race fans trained!

Our two native peach trees burst into bloom a few days ago. Unfortunately, a winter storm brought a hard freeze and ice to central Texas. We won’t have any peaches this year after all this ice.

It’s a beautiful February day here in central Texas; temperature in the 70s. Weather like this allows us to take advantage of the outdoor seating at the new Whole Foods Market at The Domain.
