Our homework assignment for Week 5 in the Natural History Illustration 101 course was to submit an outline sketch of a mammal and to provide a few sketches of a bird. I chose these two subjects because I have good photographs of them.

Our puppy is growing fast (as they all do). Ruckus certainly likes to retrieve the bumper. He likes to chew on it or play keep away instead of bringing it to me or hubby so we can throw it again.

I turned into my driveway and saw this bird near the front pond. I stopped, rolled down the passenger side window, got my camera ready, then slowly drove forward until I was even with the bird, stopped again, and managed to get a few photos.

At the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The bee didn’t mind that there were an odd number of petals.
