Forces of Nature: Weekly Photo Challenge
A severe storm ran through central Texas May 14, 2008, much like the weather we are having now (May, again). I walked around the Texas Capitol on my break May 15th. On the north side, you could definitely tell a storm had come through by the broken branches. On the south side, it looked as if a tornado had hit. A tornado did not do this damage, but the winds were almost tornado strength. Old oak trees were uprooted and torn branches hung from many trees.
A River Runs Through It
My hiking group enjoyed an outing at Milton Reimer’s Ranch on the Pedernales River. It was a grey, overcast day; good for hiking, not the best for photographing. I’m not sure if it was a good day for fishing; the fisherman was not part of our group.
Wait Till Next Year
One peach. Looking at our two peach trees, that’s the total number of peaches I found yesterday. The trees bloomed so beautifully this spring and then we had a late, hard freeze for a couple of nights. And now we have one peach.
It will be a beautiful peach, I’m sure, once it ripens. I’m just as sure the birds will get to it before we do. As they say in baseball: Wait till next year.
