I took off a long time from art due to some arm pain issues. I’ve recently started sketching again, this time with graphite pencils instead of charcoal. In my drawing lessons, under the watchful eye of my drawing instructor, I’ve shaded a cone, a sphere, and a cylinder. This is my first attempt at shading by myself. I’ll take this to my next lesson for a critique.

The flower and leaf are actually floating in clear water. I was hiking at McKinney Falls State Park and didn’t have my big camera with me. I used my iPhone camera, because, as they say, the best camera is the one you have with you.

I don’t know what kind of flower this is. My research skills are somewhat lacking in quite a few areas, it seems. Any ideas?

Agapanthus it is! Thanks to the identification by Gloria.
Or, purple heart plant. A few days of clouds and a little bit of rain brought out the delicate flowers.
