We still have standing water from a couple of days of rain. This frog decided to take up residence in the puddle close to our dining room window.

Hubby got a good closeup.

Cats are so transparent, the Loggerhead Shrike mused. The feline tail twirled back and forth as it was sneaking up on the grasshopper. At the bottom of the post, Cat got ready to pounce. Timing is everything, Shrike thought as it dove down, snatching up the grasshopper in its beak.
Cat jumped up, swiping its paw at the now empty post. “Hey! That’s mine!” Cat objected.
“Don’t think so.” Shrike impaled the grasshopper on a nail protruding from the porch.
Deciding it never really wanted the grasshopper anyway, Cat started licking its paws, silently making plans for revenge. Next time . . .

This is our back door. (Ahem.) We’ve always had dogs (Labrador Retrievers and some mixed breed rescues) and over the years a few of them figured out how to let us know they were ready to come back inside: they scratched the door. Scratched it right down to the metal that started to rust. Dogs are quick to pick up habits that favor them and this one did. They scratched, I opened the door. Who says I’m not trainable?

Thursday is for doors over at Norm 2.0. (The doors I usually post are a lot cleaner than this one. Oh, well.)
The blond calf from the pasture next door, checking me out while I photograph him.

I learned how to create a mirror image in Photoshop.
