Each Day’s End

I change the calendar from January to March
having let February pass without notice.
That leap day didn’t help me catch up to anything.

Each day’s end surprises me and I wonder,
Why do I have pens that don’t write?

A tree in dense fog

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
