What’s So Funny?
Andy saw a man stumbling towards the shelter. It happens every season: a bear comes into a camp, challenging the human for his food. The camper abandons everything, runs through the forest, splashes across the creek, and, if lucky enough, finds the trail shelter.
“Not to worry,” Andy assures him, “here’s a quarter.”
Andy watched as the man stared at the wall phone, failing to recall even one complete phone number, realizing that his smart phone with quite an extensive contact list was last seen crushed under a bear’s butt.
It wasn’t funny, Andy knew, but he laughed anyway.

Oops! As the phones become smart, the users become dumb. Well done on a funny take one the prompt. Cheers, Varad
Best see if there’s a phone directory anywhere! Nice one.

Hoho! Cruel! Good little story.
Sometimes it’s either laugh or cry.
Great story. Come see mine here.
A really unique take on the prompt! I suppose as the old payphone goes, so will Directory Assistance. You used to be able to dial O and get a number from the operator for free but I think that’s archaic now.
Then there was 411 for information, but that was for land lines. But if you want to find out someone’s cell phone number, there is no Directory Assistance for that. Outta luck.
Well, yes–it IS funny 🙂
That’s such a great story , Tresha.
The funniest thing being the reason for the smartphone’s unfortunate and unforeseen demise😀
This is so true! I used to remember hundreds (ok… maybe not “hundreds”) of phone numbers. Now? Enter it into phone and that’s it. Never registers… I feel for him!
Oh dang!
