The Friday Fictioneer Challenge: Write a 100-word story based on the photo.

The Lullaby
Lucy slept soundly in the soft bed, under the warm quilt in the cabin inherited from her grandmother. When she awoke, she discovered the light in the bedroom was not moonlight, but from the jar and the candle on the table: they glowed.
As she picked up the candlestick, stones lining the path outside the window lit up. She ventured outside, unlit candle in hand. The closer she got to the path, the brighter the candlelight became.
She thought she heard someone singing a lullaby. Lucy looked back at the cabin only once, then followed the sound of the song.

It seems certain to me that she shouldn’t follow that song! I hope she makes it back from wherever it takes her.
And she sets off on a great adventure, about which we are waiting to read. This was well written. Cheers, Varad
I hope this doesn’t end in tears. I think she needs to get back under the quilt.
Oh I hope the lights and song are not leading her to danger. Well done.
I dont think it could end very well for her – nicely crafted.
Magical.
Enchanting music usually leads to doom, in my mind. Well done! 😀
Hope she’s ok!
Should I be scared? Clever story to leave us wondering.
You’ve written in such a calm manner that I find it hard to believe that harm will come to Lucy. Nice writing; nice story!
It could go either way, right?
Well, yes – but with most Friday Fictioneers, I’d expect the worst. You, however, have written of the beauty of Lucy’s experience. If you subsequently had something bad happen to Lucy, I would be really shocked. Sometimes one needs to follow the inexplicable, the beautiful, the unknown, in order to fully realise one’s humanity.
the sound of the song This has a “lilt” that brings the whole story full circle. Kudos
I got a sense that the light was benevolent. I hope so!
