Career Opportunities

Across the walkway, Sal heard girls giggling as Geno checked the safety chains on the swing ride. Girls who came back time and time again to see Geno.

Sal glared from across the walkway. Those girls should be giggling for me. But Sal was stuck in the cotton candy kiosk, where bratty kids came to get a summer’s worth of sugar in one night, frequently getting sick from too many sweets.

When I become a ride operator, Sal promised, I’ll be more popular than Geno!

Sal decided to share his misery. “Hey, kid!” Sal yelled. “Want some free cotton candy?”

I’m a little late with this week’s Friday Fiction story, as I was on a field assignment.

  1. Great story. Sal doesn’t understand the difference. I’m sure the girls would still flock around Geno if he sold roasted almonds. He has ‘it’, Sal doesn’t.
