The Friday Fictioneer Challenge: Write a 100-word story based on the photo.

Clueless in Philadelphia
Sitting at the corner, Gerry stared at the barricades blocking his normal route to work. He’d overslept and taking a detour would make him even later. Deciding to chance it, he drove around the barricade.
Halfway across the bridge, Gerry looked in his rear view mirror and saw a long line of bright lights, mostly police vehicles.
Two motorcycle officers pulled up beside him, lights flashing, escorting him until he was off the bridge. They motioned for him to pull over.
Gerry rolled down his window. “What’s all the fuss, officer? It’s not like the pope was coming to visit.”

And they kept his plane in a holding pattern because Obama was late. 😳 Cute story. 🙂
It’s always something, even for the Pope!
I don’t understand the fuss either. The pope doesn’t need security: god will intervene. It’s almost a dumb as making an appointment to see a medium.
Dear Tresha,
This one made me laugh out loud. 😀
Shalom,

Very timely! A good short story!
Nicely topical and just the kind of thing I would do.
This reminds me of the time I was in Vatican City waiting in a very long line. There were barriers and police everywhere. A row of back limos pulled up and out stepped George W. Bush. The first and only time I have been close to my President was in Italy. Thanks for the memory. Good piece.

I once got caught at an intersection, waiting, waiting, waiting. The police stopped traffic and about 5 minutes later President Clinton’s motorcade went by on the way to the airport. Then 5 more minutes of waiting until the police let traffic through.
I, too, laughed out loud!
Cute story!
It’s exactly like the pope was coming to visit. 🙂 Good one.
That was genuinely funny, and so believable too!
Fun story. I like Gerry – who cares about a few barricades when you’re running late? Reminds me of my husband.
Barricades: a suggestion for some, mostly other people!
