Grand Opening Celebration

My favorite movie theater, Alamo Drafthouse, is opening a new site in southwest Austin. The Slaughter Lane venue is opening March 3rd and the grand opening celebration is March 22nd.

For the grand opening, they are showing one of my favorite movies, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, accompanied by a special spaghetti meal.

I was so excited about having The Good, The Bad and The Ugly on the big screen again! But it’s showing at 7:00 p.m., as in at night and that’s way too late for me. The movie is 171 minutes long and that is (calculator time here) almost 3 hours!

I’d love to see The Good, The Bad and The Ugly at 7:00 a.m. Sure, I’d eat spaghetti for breakfast for that. (However, an afternoon time would really be great.)

I’ll just have to see Blondie, Angel Eyes and Tuco some other time.

I’m In Charge

Finally, I’m in charge!

Sort of. I read an article yesterday that explained how a few of the Austin theaters are going to show movies based on customer input. They will do this via the web site Tugg.com.

That means that I can choose one of the available movies, then broadcast and advertise my choice. If enough other movie-goers to commit to the proposed event. . . voilà! A movie theater will be reserved and the movie scheduled!

Now, I just have to round up a hundred or so like-minded new friends so I can schedule a movie. Tugg’s movie listing wasn’t quite ready when I tried to view it yesterday. The message said it was still in beta testing, so I’m not sure how extensive their movie collection is. I am hopeful they will have some movies I like.

I would love to see The Secret of Roan Inish again. Maybe you would, too?
