This is the resident owl at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. She nests just above the main entrance. I’m not sure why she chooses this specific location as it is a heavy foot traffic area (lots of people with lots of cameras).

Sounded Like Fun
At the party to celebrate his doctorate degree, the guys started one-upping each other with daredevil ideas. Then they decided to trade challenges, writing them down, taking turns pulling one from the bowl. David laughed when he read his. This morning it didn’t seem so funny.
Paddling his kayak up to the yacht, David prayed it was unoccupied. He had to take a selfie at the helm wheel. He climbed onto the deck, the breeze lifting up his Tarzan loincloth.
Turning the corner, he ran right into his advisor, Dr. Morton Stanley, who, seemingly unsurprised, inquired, “Dr. Livingstone, I presume?”

Some information about how this works: Each Wednesday morning (early, early), Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, our wonderful Friday Fictioneer host, posts a photo on her blog Addicted to Purple. Those of us who are so inclined check out the photo and start our writing process.
Now I’m an early riser and I usually check her blog somewhere around 5:00 a.m. each Wednesday. But there is always, and I mean always, writers who have already written and posted links to their stories by the time I even get up. (Rochelle posts her story when she posts the photo.) This week there were eight stories already linked to the main page when I checked to see what the photo was. I’m not sure of the exact time the photo posts, but these people are quick on the draw. They are writing while I am sleeping. Click the smiley blue frog and see who they are. By the time I wrote my story, loaded it up to my blog, and scheduled it to post on Friday, there were 20 stories linked on the group page. When I get up on Friday morning to add my link to the page, there are usually 65 or more stories linked up. We are a group of writers with lots to say, so I recommend checking out the main page to see the vast range of ideas generated from that one photo.

Hiding in Plain Sight
Uncle Larry counted down: “… three, two, one. Ready or not, here I come!” They were playing hide-and-seek. Donny loved this game, loved it best when Uncle Larry played with him.
Running across the park, Donny stopped behind the metal art sculpture, not wanting to hide too hard. The sooner he was found, the sooner Uncle Larry would lift Donny up, setting him on his shoulders and run around in circles, jiggling him up and down. Uncle Larry would comment on how big Donny was getting and they’d tumble to the ground, laughing.
Donny loved playing hide-and-seek with his Uncle Larry.
