Wishing
Sara wished she was anywhere other than here. The music was too loud, people too drunk, courtyard too crowded. She approached several people to ask the time. Looking up, she saw a woman on a top floor balcony. Oh how Sara wished she could trade places with her.
*****
Sarah leaned against the balcony railing, listening to the party, recalling the laughter of old friends, all gone now. Time will do that, she discovered: catch up to you when you least expect it. Sarah looked down, saw a woman standing apart. Oh how Sarah wished she could trade places with her.

The grass is always greener, huh? Poor Sara(h)s.
You beat me to it…by about three days.
As one who often feels detached I really enjoyed this piece!
Great idea. Two women, two different perspectives. I like it.
Beautifully done. Loved the perspective from the two women and that they were both named Sara. I felt their sense of longing.
I loved this
Loved what you did with the prompt picture.
This is so well crafted. A reminder that the grass isn’t always greener and someone is always wishing for the things that we take for granted. Nice one!
I loved the two perspectives
