The Friday Fictioneer Challenge: Write a 100-word story based on the photo.

First Sale
Forcing open the rusted gate, Tim looked forlornly at the property. The older couple behind him bought it sight unseen. It was his first sale as a real estate agent and he just knew they would demand that the transaction be nullified.
The man snorted. The woman giggled. Within seconds, they were laughing so hard they cried. Older, but not so old they couldn’t swing the sledgehammers in the trunk to uncover the buried cash from the robbery all those years ago. They could see the patio base that covered their treasure was undisturbed.
Old people are weird, Tim decided.

That was excellent! The criminals who got away, the clueless real estate agent, the buried treasure … an entire novel condensed into a scene. Wonderful!
Thank you! A good use of an abandoned property, yes?
Brilliant! The agent got rid of a right old dump and they got their treasure! I love a happy ending.

Wow, that second paragraph gave me whiplash. What a swift, awesome plot twist!
With only 100 words, I have to pack everything in!
Der Tresha,
Absolutely perfect story. I have goose bumps at the simplicity and the wonderful parallel worlds you showed us. Still laughing too, as I think of inhabiting the middle ground between old and young. Lovely tale.
Aloha,
Doug
Thank you! There’s more than one way to end a story with a happy ending, right? Right!
Dear Tresha,
I love it! Tim will never understand why those crazy old people are so happy, but at least he made a sale. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Great story! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cute story.
This is great. I love Tim’s cluelessness and the robber couple.
You just can’t tell by looking at someone what there story is, that’s for sure.
